AATCC 100

Purpose and Scope

AATCC 100 is a quantitative evaluation of antibacterial efficacy. The evaluation is determined by the degree of antibacterial activity intended in the materials.

Testing

This testing will be performed according to the standard AATCC TM100. Textile sample will be placed into a sterilized container, then inoculated with microbial suspension and incubated at the organism's growth temperature for a specified contact time.

At the end of the specified contact time, the textile samples will be neutralized. The remaining microorganism on the samples will be recovered and calculated using dilution plate method to provide a quantifiable microbial count for each sample.

*Note*: A minimum of 20grams of treated samples is required. (Optional) 20 grams of untreated samples.

Data Analysis

Percent reduction of bacteria by the specimen treatment against each test organism will be provided.

However, the criterion for passing the test must be determined by the interested parties

Test Organisms

Pick 1 Gram Negative and 1 Gram Positive bacteria:

Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922, Gram Negative)

Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538, Gram Positive)

Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 4352, Gram Negative)
